Priory Mills
Priory Mills was built as a steam-powered, flax spinning mill in 1838 when spinning was an important industry within Dorset - the building remains the best preserved mid-19th century mill in Bridport.  
Following a number of years in use as warehouses, the historic Grade 2 listed buildings, have now been restored to their former glory by award winning, local builders C G Fry & Son.
The substantial, stone mill buildings have been sensitively converted into spacious, light filled apartments. Important features such as window proportions, cast iron columns and timber beams have been preserved where possible, to ensure minimum disruption to the original fabric of the buildings and the external facades remain virtually unchanged from their original appearance.
The newly created homes benefit from a unique combination of history and modern technology and the mill buildings now comply with stringent modern standards.  In addition to the new apartments, five new cottages have been built in local vernacular style over three floors with traditional materials of brick and slate.         

Gateway Town  
Bridport is recognised as a Gateway Town for the World Heritage Site of the Jurassic Coast and under two miles away is West Bay – the timeless seaside town with endless walks along wide stretches of coastline and beaches.

Priory Mills is close to open green areas but situated only a few minutes walk from Bridport’s high streets. Lined with a rare choice of independent shops, a lively arts centre, cinema and galleries, Bridport also has a thriving food culture which includes a bustling farmers’ market and many good places to eat. There is also a centre for local food which runs regular cookery courses, and an outstanding farm shop just a few minutes drive from the town - Bridport takes food seriously and in recognition the town has been awarded Beacon Town status for promoting the high quality of its local food.
An historic street market takes place every Wednesday and Saturday with over 100 stalls – keeping the market town atmosphere alive and well – everything from a bunch of bananas to a vintage handbag is available!
Nursery, primary and senior schools; a recently built health centre, sports fields, tennis, bowls and rowing are all available and many more community groups and facilities form the basis of this successful, vibrant town.
