Old Kelways, Huish Episcopi, Somerset
Old Kelways
Built within the listed walls of what was once part of the Kelways Royal Nursery, Old Kelways will sit comfortably alongside the renovated buildings already on the site and now home to the local council offices and public house. At the heart of the development will be a large tree lined open green offering children’s play area and space for residents to meet and relax.
Designed with street scenes and squares with a combination of terraced, detached homes and light commercial buildings that recreate the atmosphere of many local small towns. The use of natural stone, brick, render and weatherboard with traditional style chimneys helps to create a development which fits within the locality and matures to blend into it’s setting naturally throughout the coming years... in time it will look as if it’s always been part of the landscape.
Where appropriate, re-claimed roof tiles or slates are used as careful re-use of materials, energy efficient heating systems and kitchen appliances and providing open spaces where possible along with parking spaces positioned to the rear of homes are all part of C G Fry & Son’s commitment to sustainable development, quality environments, and safe and successful neighbourhoods.
Working with the local community
As part of the new Old Kelways development, C G Fry & Son will build 18 affordable homes, half of which will be available for shared ownership the other half to rent; all for local people.
