First residents move into a Fry home at Tregunnel Hill
The first residents, retired local government officer Peter Hocking and his wife Patricia moved into their new three-bedroom home in Stret Caradoc, Tregunnel Hill, Newquay. The couple say they couldn’t be happier settling in the county where they have local family connections going back to the turn of the last century.
The sales rate for the site is already ahead of schedule with all but one of the C G Fry & Son first phase built properties reserved. A total of 174 homes will be created at the Tregunnel Hill development when completed in 2015.
The majority of the buyers are local families and first time buyers assisted by the Government-backed Help to Buy shared equity scheme.
First resident Peter Hocking said: “We were very impressed by the design, the quality of the finish of the properties at Tregunnel Hill and how deceptively spacious the house was. It may look like a semi from the outside but it’s a tardis inside!
“We have fond memories of times spent in this area – we had our own honeymoon here 49 years ago and frequently visited our daughter and friends who live nearby. It feels like we have come back home.”
Ruth Guilor, sales and marketing manager for C G Fry & Son, said: “The overriding factor which buyers have given for their decision to live at Tregunnel Hill is how impressed they have been by the quality of the finish, use of traditional materials and attention to detail. It’s also important to them that their home is set in an attractive environment.”
The development aims to set a benchmark for sustainable development in Cornwall and is being built in accordance with the sustainability principles established by the Duchy of Cornwall for its proposed Nansledan development to the east of the town.
These principles include a commitment to use locally-sourced materials wherever possible, minimising carbon emissions, creating socially-inclusive places and diversifying and strengthening the local economy.
C G Fry sales office and showhome is open Thursday to Monday inclusive (closed Tuesday and Wednesday) from 10am – 4pm. Enquiries can be made by calling 01637 871694.
