Site manager Steve is best in the South West
C G Fry & Son site manager Steve Carr has been judged the best in the South West.
In the NHBC’s Pride In The Job Awards 2010 Steve was the regional winner in the category for site managers from medium-sized firms. He will now be one of eight finalists in that category in the national awards in January.
Steve, 45, has been a site manager for C G Fry & Son for eight years. He received the award for his work on the Poundbury development at Dorchester.
He said: “I’m delighted. It’s a tough competition. The judges know what they are doing and they look at every aspect of the site, from groundwork to the final cleaning ready for handover to the customer. “This award is fantastic for me but it’s also fantastic for the team. We aim to be second to none, and this award confirms that we’re achieving that!”
In their comments the competition judges said: “The commitment to quality of both Stephen and the site team is unquestionable.”
Construction director Kevin Murch said: “The site manager’s job is a crucial one. He sets the standards and leads by example. If you want an excellent result you have to have an excellent site manager, and it is good to see our guys featuring in the awards yet again.”
