CG Fry & Son welcomes primary children at its Chickerell development
Primary school children from the Wyvern Academy gained a fascinating insight into the housebuilding process and an experience to remember after their visit at Grey’s Field development in Chickerell.
The site visit was initiated in relation to the school’s spring topic ‘Houses and Homes’ for which it is significantly important for the pupils to be able to see, feel and touch the materials to help their effective learning.
The group of pupils were welcomed by CG Fry & Son’s Project Manager Nathan Pyett, who made sure the school visitors have everything in place for what was a truly memorable experience. They provided the children with an array of building materials as well as a forklift to demonstrate the moving process of heavy load.
Lisa White, Head of Primary Department at Wyvern Academy, said: “My Orange Class children benefitted a huge amount of the CG Fry & Son site visit, judging by their level on engagement we could tell that they thoroughly enjoyed their time at Grey’s Field.
“It was particularly important for the children to experience the building process and see it with their eyes, feel and touch the materials because most of them have learning difficulties and being able to observe the environment is crucial for their learning process.
“We are very grateful to Nathan Pyett who fully accommodated the visit and even provided hi-vis jackets and hard hats for the pupils, they particularly enjoyed touching the bricks and the sand. Many thanks to CG Fry & Son for giving us this opportunity to enhance our children’s learning experiences.”
Nathan Pyett, Project Manager at Grey’s Field development, said: “It was our pleasure to welcome the children from Wyvern Academy who are naturally interested in observing the building process.
“Visits such as this are a great way of encouraging students to familiarise themselves with the world of housebuilding and construction. The pupils were all really enthusiastic about the subject and I hope the visit has introduced them properly to the environment and hopefully inspired them to explore even more in the future.”
The second phase of the Grey’s Field development will soon be released and prospective buyers will be able to take advantage of the Government backed Help to Buy Scheme which is designed to help people get onto or move up the housing ladder by enabling buyers to secure a property with just a five per cent deposit and 75 per cent mortgage on homes priced up to £600,000.
The remaining 20 per cent is provided as an equity loan from the government, which is interest-free for the first five years.
