'Help To Buy' experts weekend at Hillcrest, Exmouth proves popular with visitors
A ‘Help to Buy’ open event, organised on the weekend of 21st and 22nd February attracted many visitors to the Hillcrest Development in Exmouth. ‘Help to Buy’ is available in England from house builders registered to offer the scheme and will run from 1 April 2013 until 31 March 2016 (or earlier if all of the funding is taken up).

C G Fry & Son arranged for local professionals and industry experts to be available to offer best advice on how to purchase a new house with the help of the government ‘Help to Buy’ equity loan scheme. The scheme has helped around 50,000 people with as little as a 5% deposit to buy a first new home or move up the property ladder.
One family which benefited from the professionals’ advice, was the Clarkson’s who are already home-owners based in Exmouth. The military family with daughters Caitlin (10) and Mya (6), currently live near the town-centre in a three-bed Victorian mid-terrace with a courtyard-style garden. They are looking to purchase one of the last remaining six homes released in the final phase of the C G Fry & Son development, set in generous grounds and located in St. John’s Road, Exmouth.
Rebecca Clarkson (31) works in the care industry as an office coordinator for Premier Community Services who are based in Exmouth and her husband Martin (34), is a Sergeant in AGC (Adjutant General Corps). The couple are interested in buying one of a pair of three-bedroom semi-detached houses with garage and parking which look on to the woodland landscape.
Rebecca re-visited the Hillcrest development with her youngest daughter Mya and mother-in-law, Mrs Elaine Clarkson for a further viewing of the houses during the open weekend. Whilst at the site, she took advantage of the free professional advice available on the ‘Help to Buy’ scheme.
Rebecca comments: “With two young daughters we have out-grown our existing home and are looking to move up the next step on the property ladder. We like living in Exmouth and C G Fry build attractive homes which are high-quality and very spacious. We are very interested in buying one of the houses located in the woodland area at the back of the development, which is nice and quiet with lovely scenery. I don’t know which of the houses I like best as each has its own beautiful back-garden, and one even has its own orchard. We have already had a mortgage offer agreed, however I was very interested to hear about the ‘Help to Buy’ Scheme when we visited the site, My husband and I are now going to explore this option to see which the best deal is for us.”
