Supporting the Community

We recognise and understand the significance of the local community within which we operate across our development and contracting activities. We aim to enhance our contribution to the community by taking up a range of opportunities to engage with local people and charitable causes.

        This includes:

  • The promotion of careers in the construction industry at local and regional events in conjunction with the CITB.
  • Supporting educational activities with Young Enterprise.
  • Delivering STEM based workshops with Primary Schools.
  • Maintaining a consistent intake of apprentices across the business, supporting them in their learning journey and development.
  • Supporting our staff with charities close to them and any fundraising activities.
  • Donating to charitable causes and community groups be it monetary or building services.

Montacute Specialist School which is adjacent to our site in Canford Heath, Poole was presented with the polytunnel thanks to the fundraising and collaboration of the local community and businesses. The wheelchair-accessible facility will provide the students with extensive growing space for cultivating fresh produce. CG Fry & Son undertook all the structural elements of the build, including groundworks to erect the polytunnel.

Big Bang

Our development and contracting team representatives had a great day supporting the CITB and other construction ambassadors at the first ever The @BigBangFair in Dorset at The Tank Museum in March 2019. Hosted by @DorsetCouncilUK, this fantastic event is a great place to showcase the myriad of exciting and rewarding careers available in STEM (science, technology, engineering and maths) to children in Dorset.
