C G Fry & Son Hands Over High-Vis Vests To Hawkchurch C of E Primary School Pupils

Twenty-five schoolchildren from a small rural East Devon village school, are now feeling safer on the roads.  This is thanks to a kind donation of branded high-vis safety vests from independent developer, C G Fry & Son Ltd.

Hawkchurch Church of England Primary School based near Axminster, has just 25 pupils aged from five – 11.  Affiliated to St. John the Baptist, pupils and staff of Hawkchurch C of E, regularly attend church services and take nature walks around the village via country roads with no pavements.

The village of Hawkchurch was once known as the ‘Village of Roses’ when the local Reverend planted rose trees outside of every cottage.  Adjacent to the school is the exclusive new C G Fry & Son ‘Scholars Walk’ development with three large detached four-bed private homes.

Sarah Stringer, Head Teacher – Hawkchurch C of E Primary School said: “We are a small school but one which greatly cares for all of our children and community.  Our curriculum is wide and varied giving many opportunities to enhance learning within an environment that is welcoming, safe and secure.   As a proactive school and living in a rural area, we encourage the children to enjoy outdoor pursuits such as our popular ‘welly walks’.  There is always the worry however, of safety of the staff and pupils on unmarked roads.  When we saw that C G Fry & Son were building a new development on the site next to us, we approached them to see if they could help us keep safe and more visible.  They didn’t hesitate in providing high-vis vests for the entire school.  It has saved the school a great deal of money and worry and we are extremely grateful to them.”

The new Scholars Walk development homes are being released for sale in the autumn with completion due in spring 2016.  The new homes will benefit from picturesque views overlooking the surrounding fields and countryside.

Annabel Legg, Sales and Marketing Manager – C G Fry & Son comments: “Scholars Walk is an exclusive development located in a small village community.  We were more than happy to be able to help the local school by providing mini high-vis vests and the pupils are absolutely delightful.  They were all very excited when they donned their new safety-wear, which will make them much more visible when visiting St. John the Baptist and out on school trips.”
