The Bus Shelter Dorset are celebrating the opening of their new Reception cabin after receiving a significant donation of materials from C G Fry and Son and Bradfords. The Bus Shelter recently purchased a preloved shipping container in order to provide additional private space for guests to meet with relevant support staff, external agencies and professionals.
The pre-loved cabin required significant refurbishment, C G Frys and Bradfords made a significant donation of materials towards this along with YESS Electrical and Turrells Electrical. A spokesman for the Bus described how grateful they are to receive their support and how much they value donations from local Businesses and individuals, without which their Charity would not exist.
The Bus Shelter offers accommodation and intensive support to people who are homeless. The reasons leading to homelessness vary greatly and staff support people of all ages and from all walks of life. By working with the guests, staff help them to identify their individual needs and aspirations and support them to achieve their goals. When able guests move on to tenanted accommodation, they continue to receive 24/7 support from staff they know and trust with the aim of preventing a return to homelessness.
The DIY refurb was directed by Richie Sawtell one of the Bus’s treasured supporters and undertaken by five of the guests from ‘Next Stop’ accommodation. The refurbishment project provided a genuine opportunity for learning new skills and confidence building which one of the guests described as a way of giving something back.
Philip Fry, Managing Director of C G Fry and Son commented; “As a regional builder we recognise the importance of the communities in which we operate. The Bus Shelter is a remarkable project and being located close to one of our current sites was a perfect opportunity for us to add a positive impact on our community. We are also most grateful to our suppliers Bradfords to match funding our contribution.”
Dave Arnold, General Manager Bradfords Building supplies Ltd, Bridport stated. “At Bradfords Building Supplies, we take great pride in being the largest independent merchant in the South West. For over 250 years, we’ve been committed to supporting the people and communities that make this region so special. That’s why we’re especially happy to support C G Fry & Son in providing the materials needed to complete this worthwhile community charity project. Partnerships like this one reflect our shared values – building stronger communities together!”
