The keys were handed over to Cllr Ray Bryan, Dorset Council Portfolio Holder for Environment, Highways and Travel to mark the project’s successful completion.
Cllr Bryan said: “I am delighted the project has been completed. The work has involved close coordination with the Contractors, the RNLI, harbour users and local businesses and we thank you for bearing with us while the works have been ongoing.
“The number of boats visiting Lyme Regis has been steadily increasing. Modernising this building will secure its future and help us give visitors a better welcome.”
High quality materials have been used that are in keeping with this important conservation area. Lifeboat charity RNLI also contributed to the project and will share use of the observation deck.
Cllr Daryl Turner, who represents Lyme Regis and Charmouth on Dorset Council, said: “This is a great improvement and will help us better serve the growing number of people who use the harbour. Thanks also to local people for bearing with us throughout the works.”
Mike Pinney, Contracting Director, CG Fry & Son, said: “It has been a pleasure working with the Harbour Master and his team in delivering their new facility. We do hope the team enjoy the new working environment.”
