In honour of International Women's Day and Women in Construction Week, we asked some of our inspiring women about what their journeys means to them.
Natalie Newman - Environmental, Technical and Design Coordinator • BSc (Hons.) ACIAT
I’ve always been fascinated by the way buildings come together— how design, structure, and functionality work hand-in-hand to create spaces that people interact with daily.
Choosing to become an architectural technician was a natural step for me, as it allowed me to combine my interest in design with my love for problem-solving.
One of the aspects I love the most about my role and find incredibly fulfilling, is the opportunity to design extensions to people’s homes and creating something truly personal, functional, and aesthetically pleasing - something that will be appreciated by the homeowners and their families for years to come.
I hope to inspire other young women to pursue careers in architecture and construction by showing that this field is for everyone, and that you can be proud to design beautiful environments that improve the lives of those who use them.
Sarah Bartley - Architectural Designer • MArchD BA (Hons)
I love working in the construction industry and having the opportunity to design and shape the world we live in. This field provides the opportunity to create lasting impacts on communities and we strive to build a legacy through creating beautiful places for people to live and work. It combines creativity with problem solving and technical skills and offers a diverse career path in which you work collaboratively across many different fields.
I feel personally as a mother of two girls that it’s so important for more women enter the field as we help pave the way for future generations to see the construction industry as a place for anyone with the passion and drive to succeed.
Dominika Turnbull - Accounts Payable Assistant & Contracting Administrator
International Women’s Day is an opportunity for all women to celebrate their contribution in creating a diverse and inclusive workplace.
I have the privilege of working in two departments of our business, Accounts and our growing rapidly Contracting sector.
I am equally passionate about working within these roles which has given me the opportunity to grow professionally and to expand my skills and knowledge of the building industry.
Working in accounts has given me a strong foundation in financial operations, whilst working within the contracting department provided me with the insight and better understanding of the construction sector and its regulations.
All these opportunities gave me new confidence and empowerment in my role as a woman.
Carla Briggs - Contracting Administrator
Working in construction has been an incredibly rewarding journey for me. One of my proudest achievements has been leading the transition of our contracting department to Procore; a construction document management software. Managing the entire change—from implementation to training—was a huge challenge, but seeing how it has improved our efficiency and how well my team embraced it makes me immensely proud. Their dedication and adaptability have been inspiring.
I love being part of an industry that not only challenges me but also allows me to make a real impact, assisting on the projects we create and the people who bring them to life.
Beyond my own role, construction is especially meaningful to me as my daughter is studying to become an architect. Watching her develop a passion for the industry and seeing her creativity take shape is amazing."

Georgia Healy - Sales Negotiator (Charters Estate Agents)
Working in construction means no two days are ever the same, and that’s what I love about it! Watching a house evolve week by week—from the basic shell of the brickwork to the first and second fixings, all the way to the final product—is nothing short of extraordinary. The level of attention to detail our tradespeople bring is truly impressive.
One of the highlights of my job is taking our purchasers through their new home at various stages of construction and then walking them through it upon completion. It’s a rewarding experience to witness the transformation and see their excitement.
