National Gardening Week 2026

To mark National Gardening Week, anyone who reserves a new CG Fry & Son home during 27th April – 3rd May 2026 will receive £250 to spend on their garden*.

As the days get longer and summer approaches, gardens become a natural extension of the home – perfect for relaxing, entertaining and enjoying the outdoors. With CG Fry & Son, homeowners benefit from already turfed rear gardens, providing a ready-made foundation to bring their vision to life.

To inspire buyers, CG Fry & Son’s landscape gardeners have shared their top tips for designing a new garden:

Get to know your outdoor space

Think about how you will use the garden and observe how sunlight moves throughout the day so you can position seating areas where you’ll enjoy them most. A good rule of thumb is 75% planting or green space and 25% hard landscaping.

Take inspiration from your surroundings

At Durbeyfield Park in Marnhull, local heritage has shaped the show home garden design. Native trees have been planted, as well as red and white roses, which pays homage to Marnhull’s Tudor connection. Plus, the three circular areas of lawn reflect the three local churches, while seven obelisks represent the original seven hamlets of Marnhull.

Engage all the senses

Develop your planting scheme so it includes fragrance and movement – like the herb garden at Welborne in Hampshire, which blends beauty with practicality.

Support local wildlife

Features such as hedgehog highways, bee bricks and bird boxes have been included in our latest developments to help support nature. You can also add bird baths or bug hotels for an extra wildlife-friendly touch.

Plan for year-round interest

Choose plants that suit your soil and provide colour and structure throughout the seasons, not just in summer. Remember, gardens evolve so consider how plants will grow and mature over time.
