Second phase of new homes handed over at Jurston Fields in Wellington

The second phase of the affordable homes at the development in Wellington has been formally handed over to LiveWest this week.

Leading regional housing association LiveWest joined forces with multi award winning housing developer CG Fry & Son to deliver 50 affordable homes on the current phase of this development. To date 19 affordable homes are occupied by LiveWest residents, with the remaining affordable homes due to be completed late autumn and winter.

When complete, the development is expected to deliver in excess of 600 new homes.

It will also include a central square area which is planned to have retail units, a new primary school to be built by Somerset Council, community woodland and several public open spaces. Each of the new homes will be equipped with fibre broadband, and all garages will be made ready for purchasers to install electric vehicle charging points.

The overall development is marketed under the name of Jurston Fields where two, three, four and five-bedroom homes for open market sale are planned by CG Fry, while there are 50 one, two, three and four-bedroom affordable homes for LiveWest on the first phase. LiveWest is the largest housing association in the South West.

Jurston Fields is located on the Eastern side of Wellington. The scheme provides safer roads for children and animals and is designed to create a community with several links to the town centre being opened as the development progresses.

Gareth Jones, Development Director at LiveWest, said: “With significant demand for housing across the region, LiveWest’s primary focus is to deliver new and affordable homes. This development has been important in giving local people an opportunity to rent or buy an affordable home and Jurston Fields is a good development which is having a positive impact on the town”.

“It is great to be working once again with CG Fry on this development and fantastic to see new residents move in.”

Philip Fry, Managing Director for CG Fry and Son said: “It is great to be working once again with LiveWest and to be able to provide much needed affordable and market housing. This is a fantastically located site close to all the facilities of Wellington and it is an opportunity for us to show case what we do, in providing well designed and built houses on this unique site”
