A CG Fry & Son site manager has once again been recognised for his commitment to construction quality after receiving one of the housebuilding industry's highest honours.
Grant Gibson has been awarded an NHBC (National House Building Council) Pride in the Job 2026 Quality Award in recognition of the exceptional homes he is delivering at Jurston Fields in Wellington. The accolade marks his second consecutive Pride in the Job Quality Award, following an outstanding year in which he also won the coveted 2025 NHBC Seal of Excellence Award.
Often described as the 'Oscars' of the housebuilding industry, Pride in the Job assesses site managers across six key areas, including consistency, attention to detail, leadership, interpretation of drawings and specifications, technical expertise, and health and safety – with winners recognised for raising standards across the housebuilding industry.
Grant, 43, lives in North Petherton and has two children. He began his career as a carpenter, gaining valuable hands-on experience before progressing to material controller and later assistant site manager. He joined CG Fry & Son alongside his father, who worked for the company as a project manager before retiring last year. Continuing the family’s passion for construction, Grant’s son is now undertaking a roofing apprenticeship.
Commenting on his award, Grant said: "I’m incredibly proud to receive my second Pride in the Job Award. We have a brilliant team at Jurston Fields and everyone takes real pride in what they do. We’ve built up a great rapport over the years and have a settled, experienced team that understands the standards we’re aiming for.
“Consistency is key. Every home we build is treated with the same level of care and attention to detail, and everyone on site is committed to getting things right first time. This award is a reflection of the pride, commitment and hard work everyone on site shows every day.”
Mike Crawford, development construction director at CG Fry & Son, said: “Grant thoroughly deserves this recognition. Winning a Pride in the Job Award is a significant achievement, but to do so in consecutive years demonstrates the consistently high standards he sets for himself and his team.
“We would also like to thank our subcontractors, suppliers and colleagues, whose skill, commitment and support have all contributed to this success and continue to play a vital role in delivering high-quality homes for our customers. This is a proud moment for the whole team.”
Commenting on the awards, Cassandra Codling, Senior Regional Director at NHBC said: “Congratulations to Grant Gibson who has demonstrated incredible dedication, passion, commitment and leadership to produce homes of exceptional quality. The judges look for site managers who go beyond strong performance and demonstrate qualities that lift a good site manager to an exceptional one.
“The competition is at the heart of NHBC’s core purpose to raise standards in house building. It inspires site managers to make their mark on the industry, earning the respect of their peers and leaving a legacy of homes built to the highest quality standards.”
Grant was one of four CG Fry & Son site managers to receive an NHBC Pride in the Job Quality Award this year. His colleagues Brendan Leech at Nansledan in Newquay, Cornwall; Steve Walker at Poundbury in Dorchester, Dorset; and Alex Reid-Johnson at Welborne in Hampshire were also recognised for their outstanding achievements.
The Quality Award winners will now go on to compete for Seal of Excellence and Regional Awards in the autumn, with the national Supreme Award winners unveiled in January 2027.
