Students see their new Design Technology block progress on site at The Castle School

Students from The Castle School in Taunton were invited by CG Fry & Son Contracting to see the start of the construction of their new Design Technology block this week.
In collaboration with Futures for Somerset, the project managers, and architects, Inspired Partnership, CG Fry & Son will not only build the new block, but also undertake further alterations and upgrades to one of the general teaching areas within the school.
The works are part of a successful funding bid to replace the previous temporary buildings. This new functional building comprises a contemporary metal clad roof and first floor storey over a traditional, robust brick ground floor storey. The building features two design technology practical classrooms, technician’s workshop, specialist work spaces, and graphics classrooms which will provide the school with contemporary accommodation and enhance the learning experience for their students.
Mike Pinney, Construction Director at C G Fry & Son commented, “We are delighted to start construction of the new Design Technology block at The Castle School.
Project Managers, Vikki Shinn, project manager at Futures for Somerset said “The new design and technology building will provide modern fit for purpose teaching spaces for The Castle school. The team is working well and the building is on programme for a delivery and completion in spring 2019.”
Alison Crudgington, Business Manager at The Castle School added, “ We are delighted to have been successful in our bid for capital funding. This new building will provide two fantastic, purpose-built practical classrooms for Design Technology alongside three new modern general teaching spaces which will be beneficial to all students here at The Castle School.”
