Harry Norman and his fiancée Emily House, together with their cockapoo Reggie, moved into their new home in November and are now preparing for their upcoming wedding.
The couple had been living just five minutes away in a three bedroom property but wanted to remain close to family, friends and the area they love. Harry, 32, works as a sales representative, while Emily, 29, is a primary school teacher in Weymouth.
Commenting on their experience, Harry said: “We wanted a new build home as I have no DIY skills, so we spoke to lots of people, viewed plenty of homes and kept hearing great things about CG Fry & Son. My cousin is a carpenter who worked on the development and even built our staircase, while a friend in the industry recommended the company because of the quality of the homes they build and their reputation at places like Poundbury.
“We visited Nottington Park and when we walked into our house, we knew within ten seconds it was the one and could already picture where we wanted the Christmas tree. We said we didn't want to see any other houses or look anywhere else because this was the one for us. The open-plan kitchen and dining room was exactly what we wanted. It's such a bright space with double doors leading out to a private garden that isn't overlooked, which is perfect for Reggie.”
Emily added: “The moment I stepped inside, I knew we'd found our home. It was a real pinch-me moment because it ticked every box on our wish list – a beautiful garden, an en-suite, a garage, and a spacious kitchen and dining area in a great location. It just felt like it was meant to be. And with our wedding coming up, it's the perfect place to begin the next chapter of our lives together.”
The couple say it is the little details that have made the biggest difference to everyday life. Harry said: “We love all the thoughtful features, from the USB plug sockets and soft-close kitchen cupboards to the pull-out pantry, double oven and magnetic shower door.
“We don't really feel the need to go out as much anymore because we just love spending time at home. We've converted the garage into a gym and enjoy entertaining – one of the highlights has been hosting 20 people on Boxing Day, which we could do now we have the space.”
The location has proved just as important as the house itself. Situated close to countryside walks, woodland, open fields, Upwey and the Jurassic Coast, it offers everything the couple were looking for.
Harry said: “It's so peaceful here. I love listening to the birds, which is something I've never really done before. There are beautiful fields and woodland nearby for walking Reggie, as well as the beach. There's also a field close to our home where I asked Emily to be my girlfriend six years ago, so the area has always meant a lot to us.”
Harry added: “My best friend, who's going to be my best man, has moved to Nottington Park as well. I've timed it and it only takes me 56 seconds to walk to his house! And one of our other friends is now buying a home at CG Fry & Son’s Chesil Reach development in Chickerell too.”
The couple praised the support they received throughout the buying process and after moving in. Emily said: “Debbie in the sales office was incredible – so professional and personable. She supported us every step of the way, especially when we had problems with our chain and one of the sales fell through. Nothing was ever too much trouble.
“The aftercare has been second to none as well. Matt, the assistant site manager, has been fantastic and even helped us in the garden. The whole experience, from start to finish, couldn't have been better.”
Harry added: “We’re excited to come home every day. We're so grateful to live here and love welcoming friends and family into our home. We’re very blessed to be where we are.”
