Back to NewsA lesson on the properties of materials was brought to life for year two students from St Nicholas and St Laurence Church of England Primary School, thanks to a visit to CG Fry & Son’s Nottington Park building site in Weymouth.
At the visit, 30 pupils learned about the wide range of materials used in housebuilding, where they were able to explore different items – from sand, stone and insulation to downpipes, windows and locks – and discuss their uses.
Year two Teacher, Miss Bartlett commented: “As part of the science curriculum, it was great for the children to learn about materials outside of the classroom. It’s much more exciting and memorable for them to experience the different materials first-hand and it was amazing to see every child so interested.
“This is the third year we’ve undertaken a school trip to Nottington Park and it’s been fascinating to see the development take shape.”
