C G Fry and Son has completed 15 new affordable homes on Timber Hill in Lyme Regis, Dorset. The development, named Garman’s Field, consists of one, two and three bedroom homes for affordable rent, making it a 100% affordable housing scheme.
Garman’s Field started in 2016 following the Lyme Regis Community Land Trust (CLT) selecting Yarlington as the partner of choice to deliver and manage the properties. The homes were funded by Yarlington with grant support from Homes England (previously the Homes and Communities Agency) and West Dorset District Council and supported by Wessex CLT.
CLTs are set up by local communities who develop and manage housing as well as other assets to ensure that they remain affordable and for local people. CLTs also make sure that community is at the heart of the decision making process of development, helping decide for example where homes will be built and how the houses will be let and managed.
On the development, Yarlington’s Executive Director of Growth and Development, Stephen Lodge said:
“We were also pleased to collaborate with the Lyme Regis CLT, West Dorset District Council and appoint local contractors CG Fry and Sons to produce some high quality properties.”
