Dorset developer CG Fry & Son has launched four apartments in a striking landmark building in Poundbury. In recognition of a renowned local family, Pouncy Hall is named after John Pouncy, the pioneer in the development of photography who was born in Dorchester.
Pouncy Hall is a beautiful building set in the heart of the Poundbury. There are just four apartments, each designed and finished to the high standards for which the CG Fry & Son properties in Poundbury are renowned.
The two-bedroom apartments have a spacious living/dining area, single garage and a large balcony. The views from aspects of Pouncy Hall are beautiful, stretching across Poundbury and beyond to the Dorset countryside.
Explaining why Pouncy family name was chosen, Caroline Hill, Sales and Marketing Director at CG Fry & Son said; “Poundbury itself is an iconic development and within the town the design of a number of buildings reflect Dorset’s past. When it comes to naming the buildings, we only need to look at the rich local history to see any number of people and families that have made their mark.”
John Pouncy is a particularly fitting choice. He was born in Dorchester and started working as a house decorator; glazing, painting, gilding and carving. However, in his thirties he was so fascinated by the growing popularity with photography, he gave up decorating to focus his efforts on this innovation.
He is recognised for his important contribution to carbon printing and his studio received patronage from the Prince Albert, and the Prince of Wales. He produced some remarkable photographs of Dorset and there is evidence of a connection between him and Thomas Hardy.
The apartments at Pouncy Hall will be finished in the New Year, however viewing is available now with prices starting from £360,000.
Caroline Hill concludes; “The demand for properties, particularly apartments continues to remain high, so I would encourage potential home buyers to call our sales team now to register their interest.”
